BLM: Basolateral membrane
"Basolateral membrane" is a compound phrase referring to the terms basal (base) membrane and lateral (side) membrane, which, especially in epithelial cells, are identical in composition and activity. Proteins (such as ion channels and pumps) are free to move from the basal to the lateral surface of the cell or vice versa in accordance with the fluid mosaic model.

basolateral membrane은 특히 상피 세포에서 바닥쪽(base, basal)+가쪽(lateral) membrane을 합친 것으로 특징적인 활동과 구성을 보여준다. 이온 채널이나 펌프같은 단백질들은 fluid mosaic model에 따라 basal에서 lateral로 자유롭게 이동할 수 있다.
장상피세포에서는 lumen반대쪽 즉, 혈관쪽의 막을 의미한다.

BBM: Brush border membrane

brush border는 microvili들이 만들어내는 구조물로 BBM은 microvili들이 촘촘히 있는 막이라고 할 수 있다. 특히 미세융모가 많은 장에서 볼 수 있으며 장상피세포에서 lumen쪽의 막을 의미한다.
